ترسو بواخر القمح في الميناء الرئيسي أي ميناء العقبة الجديد، ويقع الميناء أقصى جنوب مدينة العقبة بالقرب من الحدود السعودية لمنطقة الدرة.
يضم الميناء الرئيسي (9) أرصفة بأطوال (2017)، ويخدم السفن لغاية(100) ألف طن إزاحة (وزن الباخرة مع البضاعة)، ويضم مرافق الميناء الداخلية (ساحات التخزين المغلقة والمفتوحة).
يتم مناولة البضائع العامة على هذه الارصفة ( الحبوب - الحديد – الخشب – الرخام – المكيسات – الفحم السائب - الكبريت، بالإضافة إلى سفن الرورو (السيارات).
يعمل الميناء على مدار (24) ساعة، (7) أيام في الأسبوع، (365) يوم في السنة‘ باستثناء يومي عيد الفطر وعيد الأضحى.
تعفى البضائع المخزنة في الميناء من رسوم التخزين لأول (7) أيام
يتم منح بضائع الترانزيت (40%) خفضا على بدل خدمات المناولة .
