1- What is the function of the Trade Facilitation Portal?
Within the framework of Jordan’s membership in the World Trade Organization and the trade facilitation agreement emanating from it, which is a binding agreement for members of the World Trade Organization/aims to Simplifying and facilitating the procedures for import, export and transit operations in a way that has a positive impact on the efficiency of the commercial performance of traders in the member states by reducing the obstacles they face.
Therefore, one of the most important clauses of the agreement is the necessity to develop a comprehensive electronic portal to display information related to commercial activities in the country. Frequently asked questions and inquiries.
2- What does this portal provide?
The developed portal contains two sections :
First Section :Trade Repository Trade Facilitation Repository which contains a comprehensive set of information on the commercial regulations and rules in force in Jordan; In addition to important information related to import, export and transit operations, including:
●Customs duty value
●Product Restrictions and Prohibitions.
●Fees for services provided by border control authorities.
●Rules for grading and evaluating products in addition to initial decisions.
●An interactive map showing the free trade agreements with which Jordan is linked, in addition to the rules of origin.
●Appeal and review procedures
●Tariff quota management procedures
●Laws and regulations applicable to foreign trade
The second section: presents the general procedures for import, export and transit, in addition to the procedures for the most important commercial products in Jordan, which number exceeds 70 products.
In addition to the above, and in order to facilitate the process of obtaining the information that the user needs, the answering machine has been provided (Chatbot), which enables the search for any information the user needs through written or voice input and is designed in an easy-to-use way through computers or mobile phones.
3- How can I access the complete procedure for importing, exporting or transiting a particular product?
This portal is designed so that it is easy to use by users from traders and manufacturers through the use of several software tools, including the search tool on the main page, where you can choose “Search Through” type of procedure, and then choose the type of product you want to export or import, Then choose "complete procedure" in the procedure type box, and you will see the full procedure for the product, whether in export, import or transit.
You can also access the full procedure from the main page, via the list of products, whether in export, import or transit, which appears in the middle of the main page. For example, you can click on “Import coffee” from the list of import products, and a page will appear for you to choose from. The complete procedure.

What does the full procedure, prior approvals and licenses, contractual requirements and procedures, and subsequent approvals of the concerned parties mean?
For the purposes of facilitating search and access to information in a smooth manner, the portal team has classified the procedures related to the import and export process, according to their order and sequence in the commercial process, and according to the similarity of the procedures technically and legally, so the procedures of " Prior approvals and licenses” refers to the steps to be taken before the import, export or transit process, examples of which are “obtaining an import card” or obtaining the approval of a certain entity for some products in particular.
The contractual requirements and procedures refer to the steps that the merchant needs in the commercial process in terms of contracting with private companies in the service sector, for example, this procedure includes the steps of contracting with a clearance company, a transport company, a shipping company, or even insurance companies.
As for the “subsequent approvals” procedures, they refer to the steps that must be taken after the shipment arrives at the port (sea, land, and air) and before the final completion of the commercial process (import, export, transit), such as “obtaining the result of the examination” and completing the procedures for the statement permit. Customs authority from the concerned authority, or “Euro 1 certificate authentication” by the relevant customs center in case of export.
Regarding to the "complete procedure", it includes all the steps and procedures for exporting, importing or transiting the product completely and in detail from the starting point to the final completion of the commercial process.
